“Take 6 is an American a cappella gospel sextet formed in 1980 on the campus of Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. The group integrates jazz with spiritual and inspirational lyrics. Take 6 has received several Grammy Awards as well as Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award and nominations for the NAACP Image Award.”

Here is a copy of the set list, some composed before my awareness birth into the world of music. Who was my mentor? Dear Ted Benito who would produce phenomenal concerts and dear hubby Enrique de la Cruz who provided the after concert critique.

What touched me was the 3 minute video vignette that I took watching Stevie Wonder end this magical evening. He lamented seeing an America where wrong is made popular as right, and where wrongdoings are elevated as right doings.

I imagine he refers to the inhumanity that resides inside America, made manifest by the Grand Old Party, GOP, who have misused their power against the common good of Americans.

It was a beautiful evening of songs: Homeless took me to a higher frequency of sounds, including Sailing that took my body to a higher plane of inertia in motion. So was Family of Love and Stand By Me. Such soul renewing songs that remind you are a beautiful, loving, generous spirit. Don’t waiver from that identity and next to is a very dear friend who embodies that grace such that more blessings come through his creative portal. Why? He tells the truth, he is reliable and he is accountable! May we clone each other that way to be kinder, gentler, compassionate Americans!

But so touching was Stevie Wonder’s original composition Love is in need of love today! Nothing beats that magical ending.

One woman in bright orange caftan asserted she has been waiting for Stevie Wonder to join Take 6 onstage for 35 years. She was so joyful, as we all were, waiting for Take 6 in the lobby.
