I drop everything for her, with exceptions for planned interviews and good friends’ birthdays. We are not promised many more tomorrows, and family matters, first and foremost. Grateful to my daughter and son-in-law for integrating us in our #princess2015la’s day-to-day life. May we have more years with her to see how she evolves.

Two days ago, she whispered to me: “Grandma, may I hug you?”

“Sure, sweetheart. Why am I getting this sweet gesture?” asking to prolong the lambingan.

“You take very good care of me,” she said.

Aww, and now more hugs. I take more photos of her and hubby even when I was taking care of my children, now my grandchild. It seems I am not around, yet these photos show I am. I am assured her heart will remember us, long after we are gone, much like my loving friends, who were raised by their grandparents and recall all the love they got, and one on one attention from them.

Reflection: I could have stayed one more hour with sweet, vibrant girlfriends in West Covina, but I rushed home. Traffic cooperated. But, after my granddaughter left, I took a long nap. An entire day well spent, connecting to the best of humanity!

Happy happy birthday Carol Ojeda-Kimbrough and thank you Charina Vergara for the excellent meals that remind us of what our aunties cooked for us. Mabuhay Titas of Manila Filipino Kitchen may you grow more in the years to come! In 3 hours we were there, folks were nonstop, coming in to automatically check temperatures, wearing masks, ordering food, at times, asking for a bit more soup, and they willingly give. Salamat po Panginoon for witnessing You, through others.
