Converging Grassroots’ Spontaneous Joyful Actions and a Servant, Humble Leadership’ s Purposeful Actions
Feb.8 2022 marked the beginning of presidential campaign in the Philippines.
As I write this, I am having goosebumps. Why?
All citizens participating in #LeniIsMyPresident2022 campaign are mobilizing locally to gather fellow volunteers, opening up volunteer offices, cooking and feeding folks by the thousands with quality chef-prepared meals like Mae P. Paner, having dialogues with taxi drivers, vendors, tricycle drivers, and neighbors.
Or a township getting together to just dance, sing, get together in the playa or beach, connecting to one another’s humanity.
It is unlike any previous Philippine campaigns. This is truly animated from within, from the creative hearts of the Filipinos, from nuns, priests, former government officials, former justices, former cabinet members of Pres. Aquino and Pres. Ramos, even Catholic schools, even universities.
It reminds me of the exuberant passion of former 44th US President Barack Obama whose campaign mobilized over 2,000,000 volunteers, and I was one of them. I was so inspired listening to a conference call of volunteers, when even after a grueling long day, and with a hoarse voice, Pres. Obama took the time to thank his grassroots mobilizers.
When a servant leader like Leni Gerona Robredo is connecting to millions of hearts of Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad in Europe, the USA and Canada, this campaign has the feel, for me, as being animated by the divine force of the Holy Spirit! I truly believe that in my mind, my heart and my soul.
May this be the beginning of a new empowered electorate whose votes will not be bought by money, not even by a fighting champ like MP, nor a cheating, lying college dropout like BBM whose term papers were ghost written by corrupt deans, fearful of the dictator’s backlash.
When we no longer populate acts of corruptive influences in our public lives, we vote with our consciences, we vote for the future of seven generations of our people to come!
Right on, bangon, rise up Filipino people everywhere. May this 2022 elections show the consensus voting power of an awakened citizenry who loves our birth country, Philippines! May the Holy Spirit’s positive force prevail!!
